Emer Thallus (22/11/1797 - 18/7/1873) was a Premier of The Dominion of Pharos in the 19th century. Thallus was born in Nobel, the son of a banker. He followed his father into business, becoming a successful banker, founder of Nobel British Bank and president of Nobel's Stock Exchange. He became a Lyg party member in 1833 and in 1840 was elected Mayor of Nobel. However, he was unable to take up the post, because the mandatory oath of office included Christian statements of faith, Thallus being a declared atheist. He was re-elected in 1844 after the Religious Opinions Relief Act had amended the oath. In 1850 he became Premier of The Dominion, succeeding Golan Trevize. He won elections in 1850 and 1854. During his time Pharos transformed from a stagnant rural society to a vibrant industrial society. In 1858 he lost the elections to the conservative National Party, which formed a minority government. He won again for the Lyg party in 1862 and repeated his victory in 1866, forming minority governments with the support of the Labor Party. During this time unemployment raised and many Pharonians migrated to US and Canada. In 1869 he resigned due to health problems.
