Fran Ratorian (11/2/1838 - 28/4/1925) was ASO's Ers Orator from 1901 to 1924. He was born in Villemstad,SOL, educated at the famous Handelgymnasium and entered Centrik Miel Institute (CMI) in 1854, aged 16. He graduated in 1858 top of his class, and was awarded prizes for excellence in mathematics and Latin. He was a close friend of Harry Sheldon and a member of the ASO since 1878. It was Sheldon himself that monitored Ratorian's election as Ers Orator after Fenel Samuels' death. He followed Sheldon's plan to favour Hinji's uprising that started the secession of the Dominion of Pharos that lead to the final unification and independence from Great Britain.
