LIONO KALGER

LIONO KALGER

Liono Kalger (15/5/1647 - 29/11/1725) was an ASO Ers Orator. He was a nephew of Anslem Kalger. He studied arts in Victoria and was an established painter and composer. In 1673 he became Director of the Phoenix Opera House in Victoria, a position he held until his death. He was involved in the ASO from a young age as his uncle was Ers Orator. Through his position he met a lot of noble men both in the island as in Britain and had set a network of agents to gather information and to manipulate certain important politicians. When he became Ers Orator he foresaw the possible integration of England and Scotland and, fearing the possibility of total annexation of Pharos, pushed for the organization of the 1701 Nobel Conference. Through careful maneuvering he convinced the King that it was to the Crown's interest to convert Pharos earldoms into a federation. His thirty-six Resolutions laid out the framework for the London Conference in 1707 which declared the Dominion of Pharos on 1st June. The British Pharos Act (the first Act by the new British Parliament) further affirmed the establishment of Pharos as a federated kingdom of its own kind. The ASO's primary objective to restrict the crown's authority in the island had been at last met.
