Yate ROLE

Yate Role (b 23/5/1913) was a professional footballer who played as a striker for AG Nobel. He was nicknamed "The Gunner" because of his prolific goalscoring and explosive shooting. He was the League's top scorer 3 times, in 1944,1945 and 1947. He later went on to manage Orvast Athletics, gaining promotion to the Concordian First Division in 1963. From there, he went on to manage Dutch club Ajax for the 1963–64 season, before returning to Pharos to manage Nobel SC and Del Rey, followed by a second spell at Orvast, where he finished his managerial career in December 1979. Role died in June 1998, at the age of 86.
