ZAY VAX

ZAY VAX

Zay Vax (1/11/1782 - 28/1/1859) was Premier of the Dominion of Pharos from 1826 to 1830. Born in Gilbey, a member of the rural landowning aristocracy, Vax entered politics through family connections. A member of Parliament since 1812, he rose to the leadership of the Lyg Party in 1822 and became Premier after Yahim Touaire's suicide, wining the 1926 General elections, following a long NP domination. His most significant reform was the 1829 Relief Act, which removed all substantial restrictions on Roman Catholics and minority ethnicities in Pharos. Also, under the influence of the ASO (Kol Peit, ASO's Ers Premier was Vax's professor in the University), he authorized the Morea Expedition, sending troops and aid to the newly formed Greek state. Vax was a first-rate administrator, he had a good mind, a great capacity for work, and an appetite for precision. In 1830 he stepped down from his position as Premier and served as a finance minister for Lev Grei. He was married to Lady Albina Hobart, sister of Bel Rioz's wife Amelia and had 3 children, with only one of them surviving to adulthood.
